Sword Art Online Hollow Realization: How to Level Up Fast
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is an Action RPG that is designed to resemble the VRMMORPG from the SAO anime. That leaves it combining basic Action RPG elements with certain features you’d only expect from an MMO. This actually lends itself well to grinding for EXP (experience) which is needed to level up your character, friends, weapons, and skills. Of course, there is still a heavy grind to it. But there are ways that you can leverage your time to reach those high levels even faster. Here are a few tips to help you out.
Buffs While beating enemies and completing quests is the most basic way to earn EXP and level up in Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, it won’t necessarily level you up quickly. However, you can take advantage of the things you have to do anyway by using buffs. There are two ways you can do this: Use Items – There are EXP potions you can earn as quest rewards or find in chests scattered throughout Ainground. They provide bonus EXP for a decent length of time. These are best used when grinding out higher level enemies. Use Skills – You can unlock a skill called EXP Gain (located between 2HAxe and Spear on Skill Tree, right below Buffer). It raises the amount of experience you earn by 15% for five minutes.
Farm Tougher Enemies When Playing Solo Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization mixes up the mobs in each area so you have low levels and high levels in one place. The very first area will include enemies up to Level 13 which is a huge jump when you first start. Each new area will raise the cap on enemies, giving you much tougher foes to test your mettle against. You can use the tougher enemies in each area for some extra experience. They’ll give quite a bit more than something your level, so take advantage while you can. If you wait and reach their level, you’ll get very little EXP.
Take Up All the Board Quests Near the Teleport Gate is a bulletin board this is periodically filled with requests. Take them all. They usually coincide with what you’re up to in the story. Just complete them as you play normally (or focus on them if you want). Then, when you head back to town, turn them in at the bulletin board to get your rewards. You’ll always get at least a little bit of EXP, but you’ll sometimes also get items, gear, and even money. It’s a good way to speed up the level up process since every little bit helps. And, since you can complete them while doing something you had to do anyway, it’s a win-win.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization (ソードアート・オンライン -ホロウ・リアリゼーション-, Sōdo Āto Onrain -Horō Riarizēshon-) is a video game developed by Aquria and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Windows PC, based on the Japanese light novel series, Sword Art Online. It is the fourth video game in the series and the successor to Sword Art Online: Lost Song. Hollow Realization was released on October 27, 2016, in Japan,[1] and on November 8, 2016, for North American and European territories.[2][3] A Nintendo Switch version of the game was released on April 25, 2019, in Japan, and worldwide on May 24, 2019.[4]
Gameplay [ edit ]
Unlike in Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment and Lost Song, a party in Hollow Realization consists of four characters including the player, instead of three.[5][6] While HF is played like a role-playing game and LS like an action role-playing game, HR is based on HF’s style, but with action elements integrated.[7] Characters can be customized through in-game character creation, with gender, height, figure, weapons, and physical appearance changeable.[8] Additionally, over 300 non-player characters appear in the game, with all of them being recruitable to join the player’s party. Players can create special bonds with these characters by giving equipment to them. Strengthening the bond also increases the character’s strength.[9]
A new battle system also features in Hollow Realization, where the four-person team of players fight monsters using sword skills in a similar fashion to the original Sword Art Online game. Players can also direct and receive guidance from party members in collaborating to perform team strategies and attacks.[2] Players perform chain attacks with party members using a “Switch” system for greater damage output against powerful monsters, including charged attacks and aerial combos.[2][10] This includes “Named Monsters”, which are monsters with significant strength that appear without warning.[8] Set in a “wider world”, Hollow Realization features monsters new to the series.[9] A healing system in the game allows defeated characters to rejoin the battle as long as teammates are still fighting.[10] The game features online multiplayer.[7]
Hollow Realization is approximately 30 to 40 hours in length; however, completely finishing the game such as leveling up to the highest level and completing all the quests will take the player approximately 70 to 100 hours.[11] The game has downloadable content, including the free expansion pack Fighters of the Blue Sky, featuring Sword Art Online: Lost Song characters Rain and Seven, a new PvP feature, and an additional story.[12] The paid expansion pack Shrine Maiden of the Abyss, adds an additional three chapters.[12]

Hollow Realization takes place in Sword Art: Origin, a restoration of Aincrad titled Ainground,[11] with intentions of research and development[13] in the year 2026, three years after the original Sword Art Online event.[14] However, unlike in Sword Art Online, Ainground is one large floor, instead of multiple, while the castle itself was renamed to Aincrad,[7] where several monsters can be battled.[2]
The main character of the game is a 14-year old AI, known as Premiere,[15] that travels with Kirito.[6] Although she is part of the game’s initial release, a later patch would tweak her “vocabulary and personality” in-game to a “specific character”, based on keywords in Twitter tweets as part of a promotional campaign featuring the character.[16] These conversations with Twitter users would dictate her personality over time and ultimately decide if she would become a “good girl” or “bad girl” in-game.[17]
Other prominent characters from the franchise such as Asuna, Leafa, Sinon, Lisbeth and Silica also feature.[2]

The game was teased at Tokyo Game Show 2015 in September[13] with the working title of SAO IV.[18] It was officially announced at Dengeki Bunko Fall Fest by Bandai Namco on October 3.[19] According to Bandai Namco Games producer Yosuke Futami, the game was devised with the idea of Kirito starting the game at level one.[6] A Western release date was later announced, with Hollow Realization releasing in Japan on October 27 and internationally on November 8.[20] The North American Vita release is digital-only.[12]
Players who pre-ordered Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization via the PlayStation Store in Japan gain a one-week early access into part of the game’s main story.[12] The game will feature Japanese voices coupled with English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish subtitles.[21] The opening theme is “Windia” by Luna Haruna.[22] The ending theme is “Two of Us” by Haruka Tomatsu. An advertising campaign for the game, titled “Sword Art On-Nyaine”, featured cats playing with toys but with Hollow Realization sounds dubbed over them.[23]
A DLC called Chapter 1: Explorer of Illusory Mists became available starting on May 16, 2017.[24] On July 21, 2017, the second expansion[25] was released with the title Chapter II: Tuner of Causality. The last post-release content was released on September 26, 2017, closing the Abyss of the Shrine Maiden saga and it was titled Chapter III: The One Who Opposes God released on September 26, 2017.[26][27]

These weapons are made at a Blacksmith. You find the base “Evolution Possible Weapons” and then take them to a Blacksmith to transform them into Legendary.
(If you transformation button is blacked out, it simply means that you don’t have any Evolution Possible weapons or you are equipped with 1)
As you proceed through the transformation steps, a couple of branches appear. These path choices affect which one of the 3 types Legendary weapons you will end up with.
The process is a hell of a lot more long winded than that, but that’s the basic idea.

-MAKING LEGENDARY WEAPONS-
Make sure to use Basara. He has an amazing material recycling rate. This means that he can practically make all of your legendary weapons using the exact same materials.
This also means that you’ll never have to farm for more than the base amount required.
So? Where is this legendary Basara-niichan I speak of?
Well. Don’t be lazy. You can check his position in the in-game Friend List. (I also show where he is in the video above)
Basara’s recycle rate is really good. So you need to protect him. If he dies and is gone forever, you will have to use Wolff or Liz who have considerably lower recycling rates.
This means that you will see the title screen a lot as you will have to exit the game every time the recycle doesn’t trigger. (I still have nightmares about doing this because I didn’t find out about Basara until after I made all my Legendaries ;_;)
In the event that Basara does die: Load a Cross Save.
Basara is recommended for the Transformation + Refining portion of the Legendary Process. Enhancement and Strengthening is better with Liz or Jou. But more on Enhancement later in the guide.
-MATERIAL FARMING-
Before any of the material is discussed, it’s worth noting that there is a free DLC for this game that can give you a solid amount of the material needed for legendaries (Up til Gold Wings/ Dragonscale).
These materials were all covered in the video. So please refer to the video above. (I’m not about to write everything I said in the video again T_T)
But for materials that are annoying to get, I will provide a brief list of alternate farming methods on them at the bottom of this tier tree.

-The Hive event near the event used in the video has infinite(?) wasps and these do drop Gold Wings.
-The wasps in the Rustoria Sacrament: Middark – Infernal Path have had a goodish drop rate for Gold Wings. Problem here is that there is a small amount of them.
-Gold Wings is included in the free DLC
Dark Crystal/Impure Spectral Souls:
-Evil Wisp HNM in Rustoria can be farmed like the Cordia Slime in the video.
-Red Slime HNM outside Rustoria Middark Sacrament or Rustoria Lizard HNM are quick to reset.
-Dark Crystal is 15% & Spectral Souls are 5%. Expect this step to be super slow.
Demonic Remains:
-Bat HNM in Desert and Oldrobe may have a higher chance to drop Demonic Remians. But the Gremlins in the video are plentiful and easy to kill.

-REFINING LEGENDARY WEAPONS-
Once you have made your legendary weapon, there is one more transformation. This one is a refine that increases the stats on your weapon. Tier 1 & 2 Legendaries can get up to 15 bonus stats while Tier 3 can get up to 20 bonus stats.**
But the stat increases are randomized on each refine. So you will need to keep refining until you get a weapon you are satisfied with.
This actually does make a significant different (+15 or 20 stats is like wearing another wrist item)
So if you make it to this stage of transformation and don’t feel like getting the material…. just shut up and do it. >.< You made it this far, might as well go all the way. +9-ing LEGENDARY WEAPONS- Hmm. Once you are satisfied with the refining on your Legendary, its time to Enhance!** But brace yourself, this is the most annoying step in the game! (Yes, even worse than 100 Dark Crystal) Luckily, all the Enhancing materials are tradeable. so just use the cross save trick and trade them with your friends. For Enhancement you can use Basara. But he is bad at granting stat bonuses to weapons. So it is recommended that you use either Liz, or Jou. If you want a MAX stats weapon, the maximum stat increases per level are listed below. **But be careful. In version 1.03 there is a Global Max Limitation Bug that stops you from reaching the maximum stats on weapons. It might be a good idea to wait for the update (if it even comes T_T) to make weapons that you want to keep forever. +1→ ALL+3 +2→ ALL+4 +3→ ALL+5 +4→ ALL+6 +5→ ALL+7 +6→ ALL+8 +7→ ALL+9 +8→ ALL+10 +9→ ALL+11 TOTAL: ALL+63 (Note that HP is multiplied by 100 on increases.)
